Jeff's Rivendell Appaloosa in General Purpose Green
Oct 17, 2026
I’ve wanted a Rivendell of my own for a long time. Over the years, I’ve spent plenty of time researching the different models, comparing them, and wondering which one would be right for me. When we became a Rivendell dealer, part of the excitement was finally getting to see the bikes in person and better understand the differences and nuances between them. That’s a process that will take some time, though. We’ve only been a dealer for a short while, and we haven’t yet had the chance to work our way through a full run of bikes.
Of the entire lineup, I’d always had my eye on the Atlantis and the Appaloosa. Both have the look I’m drawn to, and I think I would have been happy with either. But when Rivendell announced the Appaloosa in General Purpose Green, I knew I had to have one. It’s my favorite color, perhaps because it reminds me of my first car, a 1967 MGB.
Once the new Appaloosas were announced, all that was left to do was wait, just like everyone else. In hindsight, I think the wait only made the experience better. After spending so much time thinking about the bike and planning the build, having it finally arrive made it all the more special.
I’d spec’d out the bike and acquired most of the parts months in advance, though I made a few last-minute changes along the way. For the most part, I think I hit the nail on the head with this build, and I don’t anticipate making many changes going forward. I have since swapped out the handlebars and a few other parts. I'll do another post in the future to highlight the changes I have made.
