Flint Hills Trail Bicycle Ride and Trail Celebration October 29th
Oct 12, 2022
Ottawa Bike and Trail is partnering with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to host a special event to celebrate and support the Connecting Communities, Cultures, and Landscapes project. This project was recently rewarded a $24-million Department of Transportation grant to be used to complete approximately 40-miles of additional Flint Hills Trail and make significant improvements to other sections of the trail.
Join us on October 29th to learn more about these improvements and the impact they will have on the 19 rural communities located along the route. After a short presentation we'll spend the day enjoying the Flint Hills Trail.
10:00 am: Mile-Zero Celebration and Send-off
The day will start at the recently completed Mile-Zero Trail Head in Osowatomie where we’ll learn more about the project and the people who made it happen.
10:30 am: Grand Depart
Riders will depart for a 20-mile ride on the Flint Hills Trail to Ottawa. Riders should be self-supported and can ride at their own pace.
12:30 - 2:00 pm: Ottawa Legacy Square Lunch
2:00 pm: Return Departure
Riders will depart for the 20-mile return trip to Osawatomie.
